The Sunset Strip

Famous for its nightlife entertainment, the section of Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and Fairfax Avenue is where all the nightclubs are on the Sunset Strip.  Opening late afternoon to early evening, all have a minimum age limit so be sure to check before you go.

Sunset Strip Concert Clubs – Many rock and punk bands got their first big break at some of the legendary West Hollywood nightclubs like the Whisky a Go Go and the Roxy like The Doors, Van Halen and Guns n’ Roses.

Sunset Strip Comedy Clubs  – Some of the most famous comics in showbiz started their careers at comedy clubs on the Sunset Strip. Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, Howie Mandel, Whoopi Goldberg, the late great Robin Williams, and many more have graced the stage of Sunset Strip clubs before they became famous.

Guitar Center’s Hollywood’s RockWalk – some of rock music’s most influential artists put their handprints in this outdoor monument, and tons of interesting memorabilia is on display in the huge entryway of the Guitar Center.  Music legends AC/DC, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Frank Zappa, Johnny Cash, KISS, The Ramones and over two hundred more have memorabilia on display. The Guitar Center on Sunset Strip hosts a special collection of guitars and musical instruments you won’t see anywhere else.

Pacific Design Center – a large retail space for furniture and home decoration with over a hundred show rooms and two world-renowned Wolfgang Puck restaurants. The Pacific Design Center also features a branch of MOCA (contemporary art museum) with appearances and exhibits by top designers.

Pink’s Hot Dogs – this world-famous hot dog stand is at the corner of La Brea and Melrose Avenues, about a mile south of Hollywood Boulevard.  Other nearby attractions include Melrose Avenue, Nick Metropolis Furniture and the Formosa Café.

Santa Monica Boulevard

Millions of Milkshakes – create your own milkshake by choosing fresh ice cream, non-fat yogurt or a non-dairy alternative, then select from over fifty fillers and toppings. This iconic ice cream parlor is an infamous celeb spot, enjoyed by Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Leonardo DiCaprio, Shaquille O’Neal and more.

Hamburger Mary’s Bar and Grille – predominantly catering to the gay community, there is also a broad mix of patrons, families and couples as well.  Hosting regular events like bingo, a “drag” race, comedy and more, this is most definitely not your everyday burger joint.

Dan Tana’s – established in the late 60’s, this landmark restaurant has been a popular Hollywood hangout ever since. Standing right next to the Troubadour club, it’s frequented often by celebrities

Troubadour – this historic concert club near Doheny Drive has been around for over 50 years and is the spot where music legends James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Elton John graced its stage.

Hotels in West Hollywood

There are dozens of hotels in West Hollywood on or near Sunset Blvd, the most popular hotels are near The Comedy Store and Saddle Ranch Chop House.
